This week is a great time to reflect on the needs of DeafBlind people as it is Helen Keller DeafBlind Awareness Week. Hellen Keller is a disability rights advocate, author, political activist, and lecturer who lost her sight and hearing very early in her life. Despite the tremendous challenges, she was able to learn reading and writing with the help of a teacher and became the first DeafBlind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. Let’s promote equal opportunities for all by being sensitive to the challenges faced by DeafBlind people.
